About Me

Daryush Parvinbenam is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S) in Ohio with a designation as a supervising counselor. Daryush is currently in private practice at Renew Wellness Center. Throughout his career, he has served in numerous clinical, academic, and supervisory capacities in private and agency-based settings, and as the Program Manager of Specialized Adult Services South Community Behavioral Healthcare. He was also the Coordinator of Adult Evidence Based Practices and the team leader for Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) at the Appleseed Community Mental Health Center. During this time, he was also an adjunct and full time Clinical Assistant Professor, and practicum supervisor in the Counseling and Human Development Program at Walsh University, specializing in Motivational Counseling/Interviewing, Dynamics of Chemical Dependency, Dual disorder, Psychological testing & assessment, and Trauma issues. On top of this, he was a training member of the trauma and addiction collaborative of Cuyahoga County. Currently, he holds a M.Ed. in Community Health Education, and a M.A. in Mental Health Counseling. Daryush Parvinbenam also received specialized training in Motivational Interviewing at University of New Mexico from Dr. William Miller, a primary author of Motivational Interviewing: Preparing people for change. He is also trained as a trainer for Motivational Interviewing by Dr. Miller and his colleagues at University of New Mexico. Daryush is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) counselor and has experience in working with clients with a variety of mental/emotional disorders and substance abuse. For the last 22 years, Daryush Parvinbenam has served in several clinical capacities including: dual diagnoses, mental health, and substance abuse counseling; and clinical/supervisory positions. He has given a number of workshops for the Ohio Counselors Association, American Mental Health Counselors Association, Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction services, Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board of Cuyahoga County, Mental Health and Recovery Board of Ashland County, North East Ohio Health Services, Long Ford Health Sources of Massillon Community Hospital, Alpha Mu Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota at Walsh University, Community Health Center of Akron, and Appleseed Community Mental Health Center. His current main professional interests include integration of evidence-based, and neurobiologically/research-based practices of ancient and indigenous cultures into counseling and therapy, especially mindfulness and somatic-mindfulness practices for treatment of complex PTSD, dissociative, and adult attachment related disorders. Daryush Parvinbenam’s other interests include training of mental health counselors and working with clients from diverse backgrounds who present with personality disorders, dual diagnoses, and histories of complex trauma.

He has taught and facilitated several retreats and meditation/mindfulness groups in advanced practices of Tantric yoga, basic principles and techniques of mindfulness practices, and meditation for health.
